Welcome To Your Domain: All Together Now
Some IMPACT Participants asked for a webspace to post ideas, movies and soundfiles. This Blog has been setup to explore our ideas. The theme of the workshop and production is Consilience (a "jumping together" of all knowledge, of everything) and might be summed up quite simply as All Together Now. This is a place to post your thoughts, your videos and files. We suggest you post your videos to YouTube and then provide the embed code as we have done in the example below.
"All Together Now" was originally presented in the final scene of the Beatles film The Yellow Submarine.
The Yellow Submarine was produced near the end of the 60s revolution in 1968, well before the world famous, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edward Wilson recognized the "jumping together" of knowledge in his book Consilience some 30 years later in 1998. Perhaps there is a metaphor of recognizing the need for societies and cultures to come together expressed by the Beatles and then a coming together of Science and Art unified as the two fundamental ways of knowing the world, of producing new content.
This theme and others are discussed and explored at a Staff Blog for IMPACT. You are invited to explore that Blog and to contribute to this Blog as a web author, performing and multimedia artist. This is also a place to get more experience with English, since as you know, IMPACT was conceived as providing opportunity for International Students to work in English as they pursue their art in a collaborative and technological context.
